We believe that giving back is more important than taking and are committed to supporting worthwhile causes important to Emperor and our people.
Whether making direct financial donations, supporting our team in their fundraising activities, offering paid time off to support local initiatives or providing professional services to organisations, we are determined to make a real difference to the lives of others.
Our purpose
The Emperor Foundation is a charitable organisation that co-ordinates fundraising activity on behalf of Emperor and distributes funds to our chosen charitable causes. Established in 2018, it is regulated by and registered with The Charity Commission.
We support causes that have specific resonance for our Partners and extended community and tackle issues that are close to our hearts. To do, this has included cancer support and care, children's health, support for people affected by dementia and suicide prevention.
Please note that all the charities we support are nominated by our Partners. We do not respond, or donate, to unsolicited appeals.
Supported charity
The Emperor Foundation is proud to support Papyrus as our charity partner from 2023.
Suicide is the biggest killer of people aged 35 and under in the UK.
PAPYRUS is a UK national charity which exists to reduce the number of young people who take thier own lives, by shatterig the stigma surrounding suicide and equipping young people and their communities with the skills to recognise and respond to emotional distress.

Our past fundraising
Since our foundation, we have raised over £200,000 from a variety of activities and events, both large and small, driven and supported by the Emperor team.
Highlights
Our fundraising events have seen us cycle from London to Amsterdam, scale the heights of Ben Nevis, soar through the skies on a wing-walk, run marathons, bake cakes, quiz ourselves to within an inch of our lives, glow in the park, take on step challenges, dress up and shave down, to name but a few of our efforts.
Our Board of Trustees
The Emperor Foundation is overseen by our Board of Trustees, comprising an independent chairman and a range of employees from Emperor.
David Burland
With nearly 30 years’ experience in the voluntary sector, David is a charity professional whose career has spanned fundraising and operational roles, including Chief Executive, Trustee and NED of several charity-related enterprises.
Simon Newton
Simon is finance director at Emperor and brings a wealth of financial knowledge and expertise to the Board of Trustees.
Kingsley James
Kingsley is a chartered accountant and a director of Emperor. He also sits on the Board of Governors at The Olive Academies, an organisation committed to helping transform the lives of children and young people for whom traditional teaching methods have not worked.
Victoria Capstick
Victoria is a Client Director with a focus on new busines and is passionate about meeting our client's ambitions, and through the Emperor foundation wants to make a positive difference where we can through the Foundation and it's fundraising.
David Hunt
David brings a huge passion for design and creativity, and over 22 years’ experience in building brands, promoting causes, communicating change and finding interesting ways to engage with audiences. He is focused on using these skills to make a positive difference to our charity partners.
Sarah Edwards
Sarah is a Chartered Accountant who brings a wealth of financial expertise, supporting the governance of the charity. She is also passionate about giving back to our local communities and fundraising for our partner organisations.
Simon Tappenden
Simon is the internal operational lead for Emperor, so has a birds-eye view and steer on how to get things done across the business. In a former role, Simon worked in the charity sector for a number of years, so has first hand experience of fundraising, governance and charity operations. He combines his practical skillset and charity background to enable a clear path of success for the foundation.
